By Sports fans are warned that police have seized thousands of bits of counterfeit FIFA merchandise over the past two weeks. Undercover Houston police detectives nabbed more than eight thousand phony Adidas shorts and jerseys from a store in Sharpstown.
The store’s owners are on the run. Police arrested two men and a woman near Houston Stadium for selling counterfeit jerseys and shorts. The Border Patrol seized thousands of FIFA-branded items at the Port of Houston, many of them imported from China. All told, officers and agents rounded up bogus merch worth more than six million dollars.
