Severe weather struck Cameron County on Saturday morning, bringing wind gusts over 70 mph that damaged homes and utility infrastructure. While downed power lines initially blocked several roads, all routes have since been cleared and are now open for travel. The storm resulted in three injuries and left around 21,000 customers without power across major providers like Brownsville PUB and AEP Texas. Emergency response is being coordinated by county officials and partner agencies, with an NGO shelter established at Iglesia Vino Nuevo Para Las Naciones in San Benito. Residents are urged to report any property damage through the iSTAT Damage Surveys to assist with ongoing recovery assessments.
