A Tarrant County man is the third Death Row inmate to be executed in Texas this year. The U.S. Supreme Court vacated a temporary stay of Thursday’s execution of Edward Busby.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had granted Busby the stay after his attorneys appealed, claiming their client had an intellectual disability.

Busby was convicted in 2005 of robbing and murdering Laura Lee Crane, a 77-year-old retired TCU professor. He received the lethal injection in the state prison in Huntsville around 8 p.m. Thursday.
