The Senate has approved a funding package for the Department of Homeland Security that will provide payment to TSA workers.

The Senate’s overnight vote is a step toward ending what is on track to be the longest funding lapse of any federal agency in U.S. history.

The move followed word from President Trump on Thursday that he would be signing an emergency order for DHS to immediately start paying TSA agents amid the partial government shutdown. The House could vote on the measure before the end of the day.
