A Starr County man will be held without bond after being arrested on a 2023 drug charge.

Investigators say 31-year-old Andres Alejandro Ramos was caught with more than 120 pounds of cocaine near the Rio Grande nearly three years ago. He reportedly got rid of the drugs, swam across the river and remained a fugitive for several years.

He was arrested in March, when he tried to cross the border in Roma. He was arraigned earlier this week and will be held without bond pending trial.
