By Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico is proposing a plan to deal with data centers that sounds like the one favored by Governor Greg Abbott.
Talarico laid out his proposal on Wednesday at a press conference in Austin. The Austin Democrat and the GOP governor both want to repeal tax breaks that are driving the statewide boom in data center construction.
Both want data centers to be required to reuse water and to keep companies from passing infrastructure costs on to residents of the locations where they build.
