Texas abortion advocates are often getting a chilly reception from their members of Congress ever since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Texas and other states have banned or restricted abortion, and Democrats don’t have the votes to do anything about it. Some GOP lawmakers want to crack down on the interstate availability of abortion-inducing drugs.

U.S. Representative Beth Van Duyne, a Republican from Irving, Texas, says advocates’ warnings about the effects of abortion bans were exaggerated “scare tactics.”
