President Trump says Iran is in “very bad shape” and the U.S. is only “semi-negotiating with them” in order to let the pressure build.
In an interview with Axios on Sunday, Trump said the U.S. is essentially “low-keying” negotiations with Tehran. However, he insisted things will work out because – in his words – “It always works out.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister told reporters Sunday that there is no possibility of kick-starting negotiations until the Islamic Republic is compensated for what he called U.S. violations of the memorandum of understanding.
A spokesman for the ministry further noted that there will be no deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz until the U.S. lifts its current blockade.
