The Texas Department of Transportation is warning residents of a text scam circulating. The department says fraudsters are sending fake notices that include a link and notice of a required payment, warning of penalties.
TxDOT does not send alleged registration violations through unsolicited text messages. Anyone who receives the message is asked to report it to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.
