The annual state sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies is coming up this weekend.
Eligible items include generators, flashlights, batteries, fuel containers, fire extinguishers, axes, hatchets, and other gear that Texans can use to make it through the upcoming hurricane season. Items that aren’t eligible include face masks, gloves, camping gear, chainsaws, and plywood.
The sales tax holiday starts Saturday and ends on Monday at midnight. The tax break applies to items purchased in-store, online, by phone, or any other way.
