A Beeville man is facing charges after allegedly trying to steal a McAllen police car over the weekend. Officers were called to a disturbance call in the 17-hundred block of Newport Avenue on Sunday.
Police say a man holding a knife tried to run away and, at one point, entered a police car and tried to drive off. An officer reportedly fired his gun during the encounter, though no one was hit.
Thirty-three-year-old Julian Martinez was taken into custody after a struggle with officers and was booked on charges of evading arrest, resisting arrest, aggravated assault and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
