By An Edcouch man has died after being pulled from the water on South Padre Island over the weekend. Cameron County Park Rangers were called to Beach Access Number 5 on Sunday after the unresponsive man was pulled from the water.
Lifesaving measures were started, and the man was taken to South Padre Island Emergency Medical Services. He was then transferred to Valley Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as 49-year-old Matthew Shaw. Authorities are investigating the cause of Shaw’s death.
