The Edinburg school board is naming a new interim superintendent after their previous pick decided to withdraw.

Former La Joya ISD Superintendent Gisela Saenz was picked for the position last week. But Saenz decided to turn down the job for undisclosed reasons.

The school board voted Wednesday to appoint Chief of Finance and Operations Adel Felix as the interim superintendent. Felix has been with the Edinburg CISD since 2023 and previously worked as an assistant superintendent in the McAllen school district.
