A Frisco mother is sentenced to 25 years in prison for causing the death of her 15-month-old son in a hot car last summer.

A Collin County jury found Vanessa Esquivel guilty of murder last month. Esquivel was sentenced on Monday. Police say she left her son in her car outside her workplace for hours on a 95-degree day last August.

Investigators say Esquivel stopped at a McDonald’s before taking the child the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
