Officials at South Texas International Airport say a new fence will provide greater protection from any human or animal trespassers.

The fence is 11 feet tall and stretches over four miles around the airport. It’s also buried two feet underground to help keep burrowing animals from getting onto the grounds. Airport officials say the project cost two million dollars
