Gonzalez Introduces Bill To Protect Boca Chica Beach Name

A South Texas congressman is introducing a bill to stop any future attempts to change the name of Boca Chica Beach.

Democratic Congressman Vicente Gonzalez introduced the Hands Off Our Boca Chica Beach Act Monday. Gonzalez said the bill would permanently protect Boca Chica Beach and require the U.S. Board of Geographic Names to notify members of Congress before a name change is considered.

The legislation comes a few weeks after the board rejected a recommendation to change the name to Cyber Beach.
