U.S. Customs and Border Protection says early construction work is underway on three border barrier projects in the Big Bend area.

A spokesperson confirmed Wednesday that preliminary work has started on the agency’s wall projects in Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, and Presidio Counties. The spokesperson said border barrier panels will be installed at those sites in the next few weeks.

A fourth project within Big Bend National Park is awaiting repairs to roads damaged by recent storms so work crews can get into the area and conduct surveys.
