Around 250 to 300 projects will be affected by Governor Greg Abbott’s order to audit and verify data centers. State grid operator officials announced the estimated number to the Public Utility Commission on Friday.
Abbott’s August 3rd directive to the Commission and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas said the audit must be completed before any data center will receive state approval for connection to the state grid. ERCOT says it’ll take them “several months” to audit the projects.
