The city of Houston starts disconnecting water service today for thousands of utility customers with large past-due balances.

Houston Public Works has sent notices to about 15 thousand customers who owe the city a total of around 30 million dollars.

Customers running the risk of dry taps are those who haven’t made a payment for at least 90 days, and who owe more than 500 dollars.
