A former NFL quarterback and Texas Longhorns player now sits on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Colt McCoy to the board this month.

The board is the state’s top authority for higher education. Its latest mission is to analyze core curricula and field public complaints about DEI. McCoy’s term will expire in 2031. He played for U-T from 2005 to 2009, and then spent 13 years in the NFL.
