Governor Greg Abbott is suing to remove state Representative Gene Wu of Houston from office. Wu is the chair of the Democrat Caucus, and led dozens of Democrats to flee the state in order to keep the House from having a quorum.

The move prevents a vote on a proposed redistricting map favored by Republicans. Abbott asked the Texas Supreme Court on Tuesday to remove Wu from his seat in House District 137. Abbott says Wu and other Democrats who “abandoned their duty to Texans” must face consequences.
