A member of the Trump administration is praising ongoing economic growth in South Texas. Acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling visited Texas Southmost College in Brownsville Thursday to promote the Workforce Pell Program.
The program provides grants to students who take specially designed certificate programs that can lead directly to jobs with local employers.
Sonderling said the program gives people alternatives to the traditional four-year college path, allowing them to stay local. He also praised President Trump for bringing new investments in construction and manufacturing to South Texas.
