(San Antonio, TX) — Bexar County residents reportedly won’t be hit with a property tax hike to iron out the county’s budget difficulties.

County Manager David Smith told the Metro SA Chamber on Wednesday that he doesn’t want to propose the first property tax increase in 30 years. Smith said he expects this year to see a drop in property tax revenue, which the county depends on. He forecasts a budget deficit by fiscal year 2028-29.

Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai said the only thing to be done is budget cuts in the form of reduced services.
