Houston may repeal a new ordinance that limits cooperation between local police and ICE agents. The city council adopted the ordinance last week ending the HPD policy of waiting 30 minutes for ICE agents to show up if officers encounter people with immigration warrants.

On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott threatened to withdraw 110 million dollars in public safety funds from the city and withhold future funding if the ordinance isn’t repealed. The city council will consider a possible repeal of the ordinance in a special meeting on Friday.
