Mayor John Whitmire’s new podcast is now the subject of ethics complaints filed by a local political organization. The Houston Progressive Caucus says two of the three complaints focus on the podcast’s production cost.
The first few episodes have averaged fewer than 160 viewers, at a cost of 60 thousand taxpayer dollars.
The caucus says the third complaint is in response to comments made by Whitmire, which they say could be taken as political advertising. The city says the podcast is a communications channel to keep the public informed.
