Freezing rain is expected this weekend as far south as San Antonio, where crews have been spraying de-icer on the roads. At the Zoo, crews activated their cold-weather plans to keep the animals safe. The Zoo’s Lauren Inderbitzin says they have plenty of heaters and blankets. And they’ll be needed.

Although San Antonio is on the southern edge of the cold front, the national weather service says the concern for ice starts Saturday night and runs through Sunday morning.
