The City of McAllen is celebrating its lowest crime rate in 40 years. New data from the Texas Department of Public Safety shows that crimes like murder, rape, robbery, burglary and theft dropped by more than 20 percent from 2024 to 2025.
Additionally, the city’s overall crime rate has dropped more than 80 percent since 1995. Police Chief Victor Rodriguez credited the collective efforts of law enforcement and the McAllen community for helping reduce crime in the city.
