A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board says an unmarked natural gas line was involved in a deadly apartment building explosion in Dallas.

The explosion and fire destroyed the building on East 9th Street in late May, killing three people and injuring six others. Several nearby homes and apartment buildings had to be evacuated.

Federal investigators say a third-party contractor ruptured the unmarked underground pipeline with a drill.
