Republican nominee Ken Paxton’s U.S. Senate bid could benefit from a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court concerning campaign spending.

The justices decided on Tuesday to eliminate federal limits on how much political parties can spend on expenses such as advertising in coordination with their candidates. The six to three decision found the caps be in violation of the First Amendment.

As a result, national Republicans are likely to pour new funds into Paxton’s contest with Democratic candidate James Talarico.
