A parent is facing charges after a child brought a gun to a Brownsville elementary school earlier this week.

Investigators say a student told a P.E. coach at Aiken Elementary that the child might be carrying a toy gun. The coach questioned the eight-year-old, and a Black and Wesson handgun was found in the child’s pocket.

The student’s 27-year-old mother has been charged with making a firearm accessible to a child and child endangerment.
