Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing a Freeport chemical manufacturer for illegal releases of harmful chemicals. Paxton’s lawsuit claims Blue Cube Operations violated state law by releasing chlorine gas and other chemicals that endangered Texans’ health and safety.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality says the company released tens of thousands of pounds of hazardous chemicals at least 11 times between 2022 and 2025. The releases reportedly resulted from unauthorized emissions events and operational failures.
