A Pharr man will be sentenced today for the 2024 death of his two-month-old son. Miguel Ortiz, Junior, was found guilty of injury to a child by omission on Tuesday. He was arrested two years ago after police conducted a welfare check in the 200 block of East Sam Houston Boulevard.
An autopsy found injuries to the child, including bruising of the skull, chest and buttocks. The jury that found Ortiz guilty also recommended a 30-year prison sentence.
