The Texas Department of State Health Services says Bexar County is experiencing a spike in rabies cases this year. A Texas Parks and Wildlife official told the Hollywood Park City Council that there were 29 confirmed cases in the county so far this year as of June.

A rabid fox bit a child in late May in Hollywood Park. Bexar County Public Health Director Andrea Guerrero advises residents to vaccinate their pets, report stray animals, and be careful around wildlife.
