Karmelo Anthony’s new defense team is seeking a retrial and the removal of the judge from their client’s appeal case. Anthony was found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a Frisco track meet last year. He was then sentenced to 35 years in prison.
The defense teams claims Anthony’s constitutional rights were violated by biased jury instructions and a restricted courtroom. They also argue Judge John Roach compromised his neutrality by defending the guilty verdict to reporters.
