Texas Republicans are still unable to move ahead with their proposed congressional redistricting plan. On Tuesday, for the second day in a row, the state House reconvened, but failed to reach a quorum because more than 50 Democrats have fled the state.
The Texas House speaker has signed civil arrest warrants for the absent Democrats, but they’re not enforceable outside state lines. The Republicans’ proposed map is designed to add up to five new GOP seats ahead of the 2026 midterms.
