Sixth Person Dies After Massive Weekend Traffic Accident On I-20

The Texas Department of Public Safety is confirming the death of a sixth person following Saturday’s massive crash on I-20 in Kaufman County.

State troopers say Alexis Gonzalez-Companioni fell asleep at the wheel of his big rig and caused the chain reaction accident on the westbound freeway near Hiram Road.

The crash involved three 18-wheelers and four passenger vehicles. Gonzalez-Companioni now faces six charges of manslaughter and a count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
