Senator John Cornyn of Texas is spearheading a new act that would increase penalties for those who attack federal immigration agents or their vehicles.
The ICE Protection Act is a response to the reported thirty-two hundred percent surge in vehicular attacks on ICE officers this past year.
The proposed legislation would double the penalty for assaulting law enforcement officers, depending on severity.
