A student has been detained after allegedly making a false report about a weapon at a Brownsville school.
Authorities say a report of a student with a weapon was made around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at Rivera Early College High School. A lockdown was initiated, and multiple agencies responded to the school.
A search of the campus found no weapon, and the student reportedly told investigators that the story was made up. The student has been charged with making a false report, which is a felony.
