South Texans are being told to stay cool as temperatures rise today. The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for the region, as temperatures are expected to reach a high between 98 and 104 degrees.
The heat index will make those highs feel more like the temperature is between 118 and 125 degrees.
Very little relief is expected tonight or tomorrow night. The weather service is urging residents to check on the elderly and make sure people and pets have access to water and cool locations.
