O’Cana Bribery Trial Gets Underway In McAllen

A trial over an alleged bribe to an unidentified member of the Mission school board is underway in McAllen.

Federal prosecutors say 50-year-old Veronica O’Cana participated in a scheme to help an Indiana-based company win a contract from the Mission school district. O’Cana is also accused of trying to prevent a witness from testifying against her.

Her attorneys say the case against their client may be difficult to prove, saying there is no money trail tying O’Cana to the alleged bribery.
