A Brownsville city commissioner wants the city to explain why it built a road on his family’s land without getting permission.

Gustavo De Leon says he discovered city crews laying asphalt millings on the property on May 4th. He says he demanded an end to the work, but crews kept laying more millings until the road was completed a few days later.

The road will remain in place for now, but De Leon says a gate and cameras will be installed to control access until the dispute is resolved. The City of Brownsville has not commented on De Leon’s allegations.
