Two women are facing federal charges for allegedly marrying two U.S. citizens so they could obtain immigration benefits.
Marriage fraud charges were filed against Ana Quintero Cardenas and Hannia Quintero Cardenas on Friday. Investigators say they questioned the husbands of both women during an investigation into ropa usada businesses in the Rio Grande Valley.
The investigators said the husbands confessed to marrying the women so they could obtain immigration benefits. The women could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
