Colorado officials are noting a sharp rise in bear encounters with humans. Colorado Parks and Wildlife says there have been three bear attacks in three days across the state this week, and that bear reports have nearly doubled from this time last year.
Data from the agency shows Colorado bear encounters are at a record high, with over 61-hundred reports so far this year, which is up nearly 97 percent from the same period last year. They’ve also seen a 56-percent rise in property damage caused by bears foraging for food. A rise in bear encounters has also been reported in California, Montana, New Mexico and Oregon.
