Abbott Asks Court To Block Extradition Of ICE Officer To Minnesota

Governor Greg Abbott is asking a federal judge to reject an effort by Minnesota to force the extradition of an ICE officer arrested in Texas.

Christian Castro was arrested in Cameron County on May 29th on a warrant issued by a Minnesota court. People awaiting extradition in Texas can’t be held longer than 90 days, which in Castro’s case means Thursday of this week.

Minnesota is seeking a court order to hold him beyond Thursday, to keep him from fleeing. A hearing in Brownsville regarding Minnesota’s request is scheduled for today.
