By order of Governor Greg Abbott, all state agencies are pausing the funding of Flock cameras. Abbott issued the order on Thursday night.

The Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority has helped state and local police agencies install at least 32-hundred Flock cameras over the past three years.

The Department of Public Safety was installing nearly 12-hundred of the cameras under a three-year contract with the agency worth almost 16 million dollars.

Flock cameras read license plates and other details and have led to concerns about privacy and surveillance.
