Leaders in the South Texas construction industry say there could be backlash at the ballot box if ICE doesn’t change its tactics.

The South Texas Builders Association says the arrest and deportation of immigrant workers is harming the construction and agriculture industries in the region.

The group was part of a meeting Wednesday in Pharr that included Democratic Congressmen Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez. Both congressmen support limiting ICE to targeting violent criminals and creating a work permit program for immigrant laborers.
