Hidalgo County voters have rejected a proposed tax increase to fund emergency services in District One.
Unofficial results in Saturday’s election show that Proposition One failed by a nearly three-to-one margin. Meanwhile, a 335-million-dollar bond for the McAllen Independent School District appears to have passed by about 600 votes.
Leaders say the bond will be used to upgrade, renovate and improve schools around the district.
