An organization representing thousands of Texas law enforcement officers is threatening legal action against the City of Mission.

The executive director of the Texas Municipal Police Association sent a letter to the mayor and city council late last month. He said the group has had concerns about Police Chief Cesar Torres since before he was hired, and that he has since engaged in targeting, harassing and intimidating employees.

The letter ends with a promise to pursue whatever legal measures are necessary to protect members and “hold failed leadership accountable.” The city has received the letter and says it is under review.
