South Texas residents who want to protest their property tax assessments must do so before the end of the day.
County appraisal offices give residents until May 15th or 30 days after they receive their notice to file an appeal. Hidalgo County officials say 40-thousand appeals have been filed so far this year, down from 70-thousand last year.
Property owners who did not receive a notice can still appeal their assessments, and information is available online from the local appraisal office.
