South Texas lawmakers are offering their opinions on U.S. military intervention in Venezuela.

Saturday’s action led to the capture and arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, who are set to face conspiracy and other charges in the U.S. Republican Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz said Maduro destroyed millions of American lives by leading an international drug trafficking operation and will now face justice in the U.S. courts.

Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar thanked the military for their courage and professionalism, saying Saturday’s action was an important moment for democracy and peace.

Democratic Congressman Vicente Gonzalez called the capture of Maduro an important moment for combating narco-terrorism, but said any further military action in the country must receive congressional authorization.
